Stories and Songs for June 21st

Activity:

This week we are learning about growing in gentleness. Jesus spoke about how there was a law that talked about how  “the punishment must match the injury” - but Jesus spoke about the heart of God and how we are to be gentle, kind, compassionate, and full of grace when we are mistreated.  In our story we hear about how Jesus was gentle and kind to Peter, even after he denied and abandoned him when he was arrested.  For the craft today the kids can make a rooster out of a paper bag and construction paper.

Items to collect:

  • Paper Bag
  • Red & Yellow Construction Paper
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes
  • Feathers
  1. Start off by tracing your hand on the red paper. Cut out the shape of your hand. Glue it to the top of the paper bag to make a “the comb” that comes out of the top of the roosters head.
  2. Next cut the yellow paper into a smaller triangle shape to make a beak.  Glue that onto the paper bag.
  3. Add the eyes just above the beak.
  4. Glue the feathers onto the the body of the rooster

The rooster is a reminder that  even when we make mistakes and don’t do what we said we would, God loves us and is with us. God is gentle. We can grow gentleness in our hearts too.
