What Does it Say?  v19, 23-24  Jesus walked along the shore and offered fishermen an opportunity to learn to fish for men instead of fish.  Then He started preaching about the kingdom of God and healing people.  People brought anyone with an ailment for God to heal.

What Does it Mean?  The first thing Jesus does when he starts His ministry is to build His team.  He calls four young fisherman with the promise that He would make them fishers of men.  I doubt they had any idea what fishing for men would be like, but they dropped everything and followed Him.  They may have been ambitious and thought he was offering to teach them a new way to fish or offering an adventure.   Later in the chapter crowds start to follow Jesus because He could heal their loved ones.  When following Jesus cost them something, they weren't following anymore.  People are the same today, they want to know what a relationship with Jesus will do for them.  That is why it is so important that we think about our story and what value knowing Jesus has added to our life.  Take some time today or this week and think of what you will say when God gives you an opportunity to share your story.  Who in your life do you think are most likely to want to hear what God has done for you?  Choose two or three people and start praying for them every day.
