UNLIMITED SOURCE OF HOPE - Matthew 12:15-21
What Does it Say? Jesus knew what the Pharisees were planning and He left the area, but he still healed the sick telling them to keep quiet about what he was doing. Jesus will not break us when we are hurting or snuff out our hope or the hope of the Gentiles. In the end His justice will be victorious.
What Does it Mean? Jesus avoided unnecessary trouble, but He still healed those who came to Him for help. The quote from Isaiah says that Jesus will not crush the weak or take away our hope. In spite of everything else, Jesus loved the people and He had compassion on them. Their greatest need was not physical healing, they needed spiritual healing and that is what He came to provide. Jesus won’t crush us when we are down; He encourages us. He is our only true source of hope. This truth in itself is a huge source of encouragement. Our parents, spouse or other people may love us and do the best they can to help us, but they are limited in what they can do. Jesus is not limited and in the end His justice will be victorious. Sometimes our lives may take a path we didn’t expect and include pain along the way. When my husband left, my heart was broken. I thought Jesus was going to change his heart and our marriage would be restored, but that is not what happened. Our marriage ended and my husband passed away. Through it all my relationship with Jesus carried me through. My confidence in God grew deeper with the breakup and the struggles that followed. I have since remarried and God is the center of my world. Jesus did not crush me when my heart was broken and He gave me hope when I was discouraged and depressed. What pain are you experiencing that zaps your energy and your hope? I encourage you to put your confidence in Jesus and invest in your relationship with Him. God will accomplish His purpose in your circumstances and in the end, His justice will be victorious. We can confidently put our hope in Him.
