TREASURE HUNTING - Matthew 13:44-46
What Does it Say?  Jesus tells a parable comparing the kingdom of heaven to a man finding a treasure buried in a field and a merchant finding a valuable jewel.  In both instances, the person that found the great treasure sold everything he had to get it.
What Does it Mean?  The treasure must have been very valuable for them to sell everything they had to buy it.  They saw the treasure and knew its worth.  The Kingdom of heaven is a great treasure and it is worth more than everything else we have.  If we don't recognise its worth, we may not invest.  I did not recognise the worth of a relationship with God as a teenager and I walked away from the one thing that would give me life.  After my first son was born and I got to know Jesus, my values changed.  At one point my previous husband told me he was leaving if I did not give up my faith.  I was always afraid that would happen one day.  When it did, I knew my relationship with Jesus was worth whatever it cost.  I invested everything I had and I have never been sorry.  The road has not been easy, but I am never alone.  If you are at a place where you must chose between a relationship with God and something else, I strongly encourage you to put all your eggs in Jesus' basket.  Ask Him to give you courage and invest everything you have in knowing Him.
