THE GOLDEN RULE - Matthew 7:12

What Does it Say?  The summary of the law and the prophets is about treating other people the way you would like to be treated.

What Does it Mean? The first command in Mark 12:31-32 is to love God, the second is to love people. If everyone treated others the way they would like to be treated, there would be no need for laws, starvation would be non-existent, and everyones standard of living would improve.  If we really believe this is what we are supposed to be doing, why don't we do it?  Sometimes it is just too much trouble and we can't be bothered.  Or we may be afraid to stand up for what is right because we may be rejected too.  A good way to identify how you should treat someone is to think how you would like to be treated if the tables were turned.  If we do this, it will simplify all our relationships with other people.  Ask God to show you what you can do today to help someone else and then do it.
