SEEDS  MUST BE PLANTED - Matthew 13:1-9

What Does it Say?  v3-8  Jesus tells the parable of the farmer planting his crop. Some of the seed fell on hard ground and was eaten by birds.  Some fell in the gravel and although it came up quickly, it withered as soon as the sun was hot.  Some fell on good earth and produced a huge harvest.

What Does it Mean?  Jesus is speaking to the crowd in parables.  Only those who are really interested in what the parables mean will be given understanding.  In the parable, the farmer probably did not notice where the seeds he was planting landed. The important thing was that he was out planting seeds. Do we make a point of spending time with people who don't know Jesus or do we stay in our holy huddles doing christian things with other Christians.  We are leaving an impression of what God is like even if we are not aware of it.  I attended a function recently with a couple living an alternate lifestyle.  They knew I was a Christian and did not condone what they were doing, but I made a point of being friendly and interested in them to make sure they did not get the message that I was judging them.  We need to make sure the messages we convey in our relationships with people accurately represent God desires and leave the growth up to Him.
