PACKAGE DEAL - Matthew 11:20-24
What Does it Say? The cities where Jesus did most of His ministry are condemned because they did not repent. It will be more tolerable on judgement day for Sodom than for them.
What Does it Mean? Where much is given; much is expected. These three cities, also known as the Evangelical Triangle, were the center of Jesus' ministry in Galilee. Jesus preached and performed many miracles, yet they did not believe. Tyre, Sidon and Sodom were recognized as pagan cities. Jesus says He will be more lenient on them on judgment day than on cities where He did much of His ministry. They heard what Jesus preached, saw Him perform many miracles, and yet did not respond. We live in North America. Canada was founded on Christian principles. There are lots of good churches, and gospel messages are broadcast regularly by radio, TV, and on the internet. Yet only a small percentage of people in Canada call themselves Christian and even less have a personal relationship with Jesus. We will be judged more harshly on judgement day than those who did not have an opportunity to hear. The more we know, the more we are responsible to obey and share with others. According to the Vancouver Sun in May of 2013, Campbell River and Squamish, BC, have the largest number of people with no religious affiliation (55%) in Canada. This is a great opportunity!! What is your response to this statistic?
