LAST RESORT - Matthew 9:18-26
What Does it Say?  v18-19, 24  A temple ruler came to jesus requesting that his daughter be brought back to life.  On their way to the ruler's house a women that had been bleeding for 12 years touched Jesus garment and was healed.  When they got to the man's house and Jesus asked the people to leave as the girl was only asleep, they laughed.
What Does it Mean?  The temple ruler did not come to Jesus until his daughter had already died.  The women who was bleeding was desperate, she had been bleeding for a long time and probably tried everything else before coming to Jesus.  Both of these situations would have been hopeless if it were not for God.  The temple ruler would have seen the miracles Jesus had been doing, but he was a religious leader and they typically were not Christ followers.  When the situation became hopeless, he took his problem to Jesus.  Jesus showed compassion on the man's daughter and brought her back to life.  The woman that had bleeding did not even dare talk to Jesus, but she believed He could heal her if she just touched His garment.  Neither of these two people knew Jesus personally, but they saw something in Him that attracted them to Jesus; He had compassion on them.  Why is prayer often a last resort?  What situation in your life is causing you concern?  Don't leave prayer as a last resort, talk to God about it today.  God sometimes allows bad things to happen, to give us the motivation to seek Him.  When we seek Him we will find Him if we seek with all our hearts, Jeremiah 29:13 and Isaiah 30:18  The Lord loves to be gracious to you, He rises to show you compassion.
