HATE THE SIN; LOVE THE SINNER - Matthew 10:21-31
What Does it Say?  v 22, 26, 28 Don't be afraid when the world doesn't like us, threatens us, or wants to kill us.  One day the truth will be revealed and you will be rewarded for standing firm.  We should only be afraid of God who can destroy our body and our soul in hell.
What Does it Mean?  What God thinks of us is the only thing that really matters.  We are fortunate to live in Canada and not face open persecution as many in our world today do, but our freedom to believe in God is being threatened.  2 Timothy 3:12 says that all who worship God will be persecuted in some way.  Even now in Canada Christians are judged for denouncing homosexuality, abortion, and pornography.  Our consolation is that when we suffer as Jesus suffered and draw near to Him, rather than giving up on our faith, we will come to know HIM in a way that few people ever experience.  Does that mean we should publicly oppose those involved in sinful practices?  We still need to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.  People are deceived by Satan, we need to hate the sin, but love the sinner.  It is not our job to judge them, it is our job to love them and tell them about Jesus.  You may be the only Bible some people will ever read.  What does your life say about Jesus? There will be times when we are forced to take a stand against sin and we should not be afraid of their threats; they killed Jesus and it was a blessing to all mankind.  If you are asked what the Bible says, don't be afraid to speak the truth in love.  Be careful that you are being judged for doing good, not for a critical, self righteous attitude that is equally offensive to God as whatever sin you are confronting.  Think of a time when you have been criticized because of your faith, what was the issue and what was your attitude?  How did it affect your relationship with God?
